Weingut Freitag
Honest, authentic, and alive..
…is how Weingut Freitag describes their wines. This family vineyard in Rheinhessen, Germaný started out only selling wines to larger producers, but after their son Philipp joined as cellar master in 2013, they began to bottle their own wines. Then in 2020, they made the decision to produce only natural wines, largely without any additives and completely without filtration. They harvest their grapes by hand and let their musts ferment and mature in old wooden barrels. Speaking of authentic - head on over to their Instagram page where Philipp Freitag jokingly, yet stylishly, gets naked with the wines (apparently a play on the word “natural”).
Weingut Freitag is different, yet approachable
“We want to be different, swim against the tide and still uphold tradition. We want to show the flag for our origin!” Sounds bold, but Weingut Freitag aims for its wines to be suitable for everyone and every occasion - from chill evenings at home after work, to special occasions like a first date. They produce both reds and whites from a variety of grapes including Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, and Riesling. These wines are absolutely amazing for the price point!
